Thank you for being here. If you refuse to give up on the idea that we humans can do better on this beautiful planet than we’re doing at this moment, this is the place for you.

Maybe you know my work on TV and radio, or my writing for The Nation, or CounterPunch, or my books. Subscribe, and you’ll hear from me on the days when I’m mad-as-hell about the puffed-up, greedy patriarchs who are trying to sell us their deadly deals, and on the see-it-can-be-done days when I’m reporting on people and places that are setting their priorities differently, in ways that make me smile. I’ll be posting videos from my archives, and new reporting too. You don’t have to contribute. My posts are always free, but if you pony up some financial support, I’ll share reviews of what I’m reading, and seeing, and listening-to, just with you.

I’m an award-winning independent media maker, with six seasons on public television, hosting Laura Flanders & Friends, and The Laura Flanders Show, and a former GRITtv, Free Speech TV, Air America Radio, KALW, CounterSpin, and WBAI /Pacifica host.

I hail from an Anglo-American family of radical journalists and performers. (Find out about many of them in the archives.) I live now with my partner, the wild action hero, Elizabeth Streb and our mighty multi-poo Trisha in an old loft in New York City, and a tiny cabin in rural Sullivan County, NY. I started out in activism at the Seneca- and Greenham Common women’s peace encampments, and made my first film in Northern Ireland in the early 1980s. My curiosity’s taken me to a world of places since.

In these “pages” I’ll be glancing back, as well as forward, and looking in, as well as out. Kind? Curious? Ready? Come along!
